How large is your company and how long have you been in business?
- We are a Colorado owner-operated small business that was founded in 2007. Our founder has worked with metal and computer technology for over 20 years and combined that experience to build the plasma cutting operation.
- We provide services to other businesses as well as individual consumers.
What is plasma and how does it cut metal?
- Plasma - the fourth state of matter - is an ionized gas that conducts electricity. Plasma is created by adding energy to an electrically neutral gas. In this case,the gas is compressed air and the energy is electricity.The more electrical energy added, the hotter the plasma arc becomes. Plasma arc cutting machines control thispowerful energy by constricting the arc and forcing itthrough a concentrated area (the nozzle). By increasing air pressure and intensifying the arc with higher amperage, the arc becomes hotter and more capable of blasting through thicker metals and blowing away the cuttings, with minimal cleanup required
- Plasma Arc cutting is an excellent choice for most cutting applications but it is particulary well suited for applications where speed and excellent cut quality are important. Because of the intense heat of the plasma arc, around 40,000 degrees farenheit compared to 5,700 degrees with gases used with Oxy-Fuel torches, the cut is clean with little or no dross. The plasma flame produces a very narrow cut width or kerf, but does create a bevel of 2-3 degrees (see picture below.)
What types of metal can be cut using plasma?
- Any ferrous or non-ferous metal can be cut using plasma. We mostly cut mild steel, stainless steel, anf aluminum.
Do you provide welding and fabrication services?
- We can provide limited, non-structural fabrication and welding for plasma cut items purchased from us.
Do you provide design services?
- Yes. We have an extensive library of clipart images and fonts that can be used to create a design based on your idea. Our CAD software can also be utilized to create geometrical and parts designs, based on your specifications.
Do you provide finishing services like paint or powder coating?
- We can provide media blasting to prep smaller items for finishing, but are not providing finishing services at this time.
How thick of metal can you cut?
- We can pierce and cleanly cut metal up to 5/8" thick.
How large of plate or sheet can you cut?
How long does it take to get a design cut?
- We typically cut from 4' x 8' sheet/plate, but can handle 5' x 10' sheet/plate.
- Typical turn around for custom items is 5-7 business days, dependig on the size of the job, complexity of the design and material requirements.
How long does it take to get a quote?
- Quotes will be typically be provided within 48 hours of receipt of completed Quote Request
- Quotes are time/materials based and will include CAD time, CNC set up time, CNC plasma cutting time, and material costs.
- Yes, our shop minimum is $50, not including materials.
